Mountain refuges
Refuge de la Fare, at 2350m, offers coffee or a basic lunch for those hiking at altitude.
Follow hiking path 262 from the top of the Alpette chair lift, across scree slopes and steep paths with iron cables, past the Refuge and onto the Plâteau des Petites Rousses, for an exhilarating hike and some amazing views.
Alpine lakes
Pretty alpine lakes on the Plateau des Petites Rousses, (2500m) above Oz en Oisans.
Ecrins national park
Torrent des Etacons welcomes you to La Berarde, the gateway to the Ecrins national park. Home to multiple high peaks, glaciers, alpine pastures, woodlands and lakes, the Ecrins national park is a must for all walking and hiking enthusiasts.
Glaciers and their lakes
Lac du Milieu (2700m) originates from the glacier period. The lakes (de la Fare and Milieu) high up here on the Plateau des Petites Rousses were only uncovered 200years ago.

From the 21 bends of Alpe d’Huez to the 2600m pass of the Col du Galbier, the Oisans area of France is steeped in road cycling history. Staggering views and a wide variety of flora and terrain make this one of the most varied alpine areas for cycling in France. Apartment Le Roubier is ideally located at the start of the ascent to the Col de la Croix de Fer and the Col du Glandon, as well as 18 km by dedicated cycle path to the Alpe d’Huez climb. But the cycling is more than just the ascent (and descent!) of a col – such variety offers the choice of itinerary to suit your ambition – road, gravel or MTB. Take home the memory of a dawn summit ride, La Berarde and the majestic peaks of the Ecrins national park, or the sheer rock faces on the climb to Villard-Notre-Dame.
MTB
The Alpe D’Huez MTB Domain is one of Europe’s most versatile and popular destinations for mountain bikers. It offers everything from flowing single track to rocky terrain. The result, a resort perfect for all riders; no matter their skill; no matter their preferences. Alpe D’Huez is also home to the famous enduro marathon, The Megavalanche. Race from the summit of Pic Blanc all the way down to the base of Allemond Valley, a vertical height drop of 2,600m! Access to gondola is adjacent to the apartment.

OzVaujany
Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine
OzVaujany
Catering for beginners or those wishing not to venture too far, the OzVaujany area gives you access to 30 runs covering 53km. Comprising predominantly of blue and red pistes, there are also 2 nursery areas perfect for those new to the sport, accessible directly in Oz village or via the Alpette lift.
Many of the well-known ski rental companies have outlets in Oz en Oisans station providing winter sports equipment hire. For those who require tuition, the ESF ski school is in the village and meets outside the apartment.
For nordic skiers, there are 2 ski trails within the OzVaujany ski area, the Boucle de Poutran and the Boucle des Lacs.
Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine
Oz en Oisans forms part of the fabulous Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski Area, linking the resorts of Alpe d’Huez, Auris en Oisans, Huez en Oisans, Oz en Oisans, Vaujany and Villard Reculas into one giant winter playground. Offering the worlds biggest difference in height with skiing from 1150m to 3330m, the lifts are open for an extended season from the end of November until the end of April.
Suitable for all abilities, 100 runs total 250km of piste with additional off piste skiing available. For those looking for that extra thrill or challenge, the Grand Domaine boasts Europes longest black run the “Sarenne”, two snow parks, a border cross run and half pipe.
In addition, 50km of cross country trails are available along with the opportunity to take lessons (ESF) in both nordic skiing and the sport of biathlon.

Oz en Oisans
In addition to the wealth of hiking, skiing, cycling and VTT options, in summer Oz offers outdoor tennis courts and high wires forest trails, with an outdoor ice rink in winter.
Vaujany
Accessible by ski lift or car, Vaujany sports complex comprises a bowling hall, indoor swimming pool with water slide and indoor ice rink.
Allemond
Situated below Oz, Allemond has the attraction of the Lac du Verney for water sports plus an outdoor pool complex in the village. Allemond is connected to Oz Station by cable car and there is a free bus service running from Allemond to Oz Village and Oz Station in season.
